Alt Hotel St. John's

We stayed for 5 nights. The bedroom was really nice and the bed large and very comfortable. The bathroom was well proportioned and the shower good. The main dining room was almost pretentious with its breakfast offerings with the chef offering over the top items (OK for dinner, but at breakfast?!). It was also expensive. The other option was their coffee shop in the reception area but this is really popular with locals on their way to work and twice they had run out of breakfast pastries by the time we turned up. It was a bit of a let down for such a nice hotel. There aren't too many good restaurants in the immediate vicinity. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Our first time to visit St. John's NL and Alt Hotel is amazingly wonderful, making us very much welcome in their town and very comfortable and pampered! They changed our wet towels after a day and refilled coffee pods for the Nespressó so no need to ring them for the essentials. My husband loved our room! All of it - bed, bathroom, TV, a side view of the harbour, and everything else! We enjoyed many things around St. John's due to Alt Hotel's very convenient location downtown! It's a 3-minute walk to the adorable Our Dogs statues at Harbourside Park & War Memorial. It is all walking distance to the nice restaurants, pubs and souvenir shops, the Jelly Bean Row neighbourhood, and the Basilica of St. John the baptist. It is at more or less 30-minute walk (depending on your pace) to the Signal Hill National Historic site where you can get an astounding scenic view of St. John's! Their Terré resto serves great brunch meals and oh so filling with a bit of harbourside view and nice ambiance. Their in-house cold wraps are delicious - the ones you can get by the front desk when you just need a quick bite on the go. Every staff we have encountered at Alt Hotel were very accommodating and kind! Thank you so much, Alt Hotel @St.John's NL, for an exceptional hospitality! Cheers!

We stayed at Alt Hotel St. John’s back in September and October when we were in the area to hike the East Coast Trail. From the moment we walked into this hotel, we felt like family! The individuals we met here went far above and beyond what we have ever experienced at any other hotel… and that is coming from someone who travels a lot! Jordan was absolutely fantastic!!! Justin, Jane, Lauren were all wonderful! Mahvin (I’m not sure if I’m spelling that correctly) was an absolute joy! I don’t know if or when we will be in St. John’s again, but if we ever have the good fortune to visit again, we will stay nowhere else!

I stayed for a few nights on a recent trip. The hotel was modern, comfy and extremely clean. I stayed in a harbour view room and it was spectacular. I loved being able to watch the ships come and go, and it was magical at night with the lights twinkling off the water. The hotel is located in a great spot to get to nearby restaurants and shops. I didn’t have any issues with the underground parking - many reviews said it’s too small - I found it to be a standard underground garage. I have already recommended Alt to my friends heading out East later this year.

Great location, amazing view (we had a harbour view room), and a comfortable stay. The Alt Hotel St. John's staff are very friendly, and provided great advice and suggestions about things to do in downtown St. John's. Location is on the water and very close to George Street (the pub district with nightly live music). If you are there on a Wednesday, do check out O'Reilly's with "Those Beautiful Uglysticks". (We caught Liam Maher too.) Rooms have electric blinds, and adjustable lights. The climate controls are very responsive. All this resulted in a very restful sleep. Top scores from me!

It was my wife’s birthday and our anniversary and I wanted to take her on a homecoming trip to the city she was born in- -St. John’s. When I started looking into places to stay, Alt Hotel not only caught my eye because of the area, but the vast majority of the reviews mentioned the kind team that runs this beautiful place. It took one phone call to validate that. I had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren when I called to inquire about some things. She was so incredibly kind and helpful. Upon arriving after a long travel day, we opened up the door to bunch of goodies celebrating my wife’s birthday, her homecoming and our anniversary. The location is absolutely perfect. In close walking distance to everything this phenomenal city has to offer. Thanks Lauren and team for making our trip so memorable. First time visitor for me and long time admirer. Newfoundland is the most magical place. Also, if you’re on the fence about the Sea View room, don’t hesitate. It was so fun opening the blinds and watching the water traffic every morning. We’ve been having post vacation blues for a solid month now. Can’t wait to return.

This was a great hotel near the main sights. The upgraded room of the harbour was brilliant. Worth the price. The front desk staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would definitely stay here again. They have a restaurant next door, which was also very good. The breakfast was great. Good quality food. They even had a coffee/cake kiosk in the foyer. A big shout-out to Jane.

Amazing location and views! The panoramic harbour view is the highlight but even the city view would be nice too. The staff were great as well! There are some small complaints with the fit and finish of the room but the views are really the main event.
